
Keeping Wet Zones Warm Without the Headache
Let’s be honest: heating a changing room or a wet area is a nightmare. You want people to feel warm the second they step out of the shower, but you’re dealing with steam, splashes, and the constant worry that water and electricity aren’t the best of friends. That’s where our IPX5 infrared heaters come in. Heat that actually hits you Most heaters try to warm up the air. The problem? In a big, drafty locker room, that heat just floats up to the ceiling where it does absolutely nothing for the person standing below. Our units work differently. They use short-wave infrared, which is basically like stepping into a patch of sunlight. The warmth travels instantly and hits you directly. No waiting for the HVAC to wake up. No shivering while the room slowly warms. You flip a switch, and a few seconds later, you’re toasted. Built for the splash zone In a wet area, water gets everywhere. That’s why we went with an IPX5 rating. In plain English? You can practically spray this thing from any angle and it won’t flinch. We made this happen by sealing the quartz tube housing tight and using heavy-duty, moisture-resistant gaskets where the wires go in. Inside, there’s a halogen-filled quartz lamp. The quartz lets the heat fly through without soaking it up, and the halogen keeps the filament from burning out too quickly. We also added some beefy reflectors to make sure the heat is pushed down, right where the people are. A few things to keep in mind Now, there are a couple of “gotchas” during installation. First, these things pull a lot of power to get that high-end, cozy feel. You’ll need a dedicated circuit and the right breakers, or you’ll be tripping the power every time the room hits peak capacity. Also, just because it handles splashes doesn’t mean you can drop it in a pool. It’s not submersible. Give it some breathing room on the wall so air can move around the chassis; otherwise, the internal electronics might get a bit too hot.
