
Getting the Heat Right in Husky HyPET Systems
If you’re running high-speed PET blowing, you know the struggle. You’re chasing that perfect heat distribution, but it’s a balancing act. Too often, the surface of the preform is practically melting while the core stays stubborn and cold. That’s how you end up with uneven walls and bottles that just fail. We got tired of seeing that happen, so we built replacement lamps for Nissei ASB and Husky HyPET systems that actually get the job done. The secret is in the penetration. Most lamps just hit the surface—we call it the “skin effect.” To stop that, we messed around with the halogen gas pressure and filament density inside the quartz tube. Why? Because it shifts the infrared light to a wavelength that the PET plastic actually wants to soak up. It pushes the heat deeper into the material, not just the outside. And since you’re running high-speed lines, you can’t afford to slow down. We built these to handle the aggressive ramp-up these systems demand without the filaments just giving up and burning out. Built to actually fit. There’s nothing worse than a “replacement” part that doesn’t quite sit right. We used heavy-wall quartz so the tubes don’t bow when things get scorching hot. They’re true drop-in replacements. We also tightened up the tolerances on the connectors, so you get a solid electrical hit without worrying about arcing at the terminals. One more thing: we skipped those generic coatings. They usually just block too much energy. Instead, we used a targeted layer that bounces the heat right back toward the preform. More energy goes into the plastic, less is wasted. A quick heads-up on the trade-off. Here’s the thing: more penetration means more heat radiating into your oven cavity. You can’t just swap these in and walk away. If you’re cranking up the heat density to fix a cold-core problem, you’ve got to make sure your ventilation can actually pull that extra ambient heat out. If you don’t, your preforms might start deforming before they even hit the blowing stage. Just keep an eye on your cooling settings, and you’ll be golden.
