
Getting the Heat Right for Your Husky HyPET
If you’re running a high-speed Husky HyPET system, you know that just cranking up the wattage isn’t the answer. If you just blast the preforms with raw heat, you end up scorching the outside while the inside stays cold. It’s a frustrating cycle. That’s why we built our replacement IR bulbs differently. It’s all about balance.
Getting past the surface
Here’s the thing: most standard IR lamps just dump all their energy right on the surface. We use a specific halogen-filled quartz envelope that shifts how the light actually behaves. Instead of hitting a wall, the infrared waves actually sink into the PET. They reach the core. When you’re running your lines at full tilt, this is what stops those annoying cold spots in the bottle base and keeps your wall thickness consistent. No more guessing.
The nuts and bolts
These are drop-in replacements. Period. We’ve made sure they match the electrical footprint of the original Husky radiators exactly. Whether you’re dealing with R7s or Sk15 connectors, they just fit. Now, pushing 2500W+ through a tiny tube is a lot of stress on the glass. To stop the bulbs from bowing or warping under that kind of pressure, we use heavy-wall quartz. One quick tip: keep your oven’s cooling blowers clean. If they’re clogged, the ambient heat will eat your bulbs for breakfast.
Making it work on the floor
Installing these is easy. Swap the old tube, check your contacts for any pitting, and you’re good to go. And since we’ve calibrated the filament resistance, you don’t have to mess around with your PLC heating profiles. You get a steady, predictable heat across the whole oven bank. Less time tweaking settings. Fewer rejects in the bin. More time actually producing.
