One second too long and you’ve got degradation; a second too short and your wall thickness is all over the place. It’s a stressful balance. That’s why we obsessed over the “lag.” You can’t afford to wait for a lamp to warm up while the machine is already humming. We built our softening lamps to hit those target temperatures almost instantly. Heat where it counts To keep up with the rhythm of a rotary machine, we went with high-wattage quartz halogen tubes. We packed more voltage and wattage into a smaller footprint to crank up the heat flux. The result? The preform hits its softening point way faster. It lets you push the machine speed higher without worrying about under-heated plastic ruining your batch. No more waiting around Slow ramp-up times are a productivity killer. We used specific filaments and quartz envelopes to cut down on thermal inertia. These are designed as drop-in replacements for SACMI specs, so they just fit. We also paid close attention to the connectors. A loose fit creates resistance, which leads to voltage drops. That’s how you end up with uneven heating across the oven, and nobody wants to deal with that. A quick heads-up on the setup Here is the thing: these lamps put out a massive amount of heat, and they do it fast. Because of that, you’ve got to make sure your cooling blowers are up to the task. If your airflow is weak, that heat doesn’t go into the preform—it soaks into the machine frame. That’s a recipe for distorted tooling or lamps burning out way too early. We spent a lot of time on the physics of the start-up curve. By tweaking the filament alloy, we got the lamps to hit 90% output in milliseconds. It keeps your cycles tight.
